The SEEC/CODI Partnership
CODI is now in partnership with the Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC), the professional development arm of the Schulich School of Business at York University. The partnership’s goal is to offer a set of OD programs with no parallel in Canada.
(NEW: SEEC and CODI have also partnered to offer the “Masters Certificate in Adult Training and Development“.)
As a young organization, CODI is very proud of this partnership – particularly as Schulich is by many accounts the top business school in Canada, and one of the best world-wide.
Together, SEEC and CODI are building a Centre of Excellence for OD, consisting of three components:
- The SEEC/CODI Master’s Certificate in Organization Development (MCOD)
- The SEEC/CODI OD Seminar Series, offered at SEEC’s campus in downtown Toronto.
- Custom OD programs for corporate and institutional clients.
SEEC/CODI Masters Certificate in OD
The SEEC/CODI MCOD is the latest in SEEC’s series of non-academic, professional development, masters-level certificates – not to be confused with Schulich’s academic MBA program.
MCOD candidates will complete three program components:
- CODI’s 3-module, 12-day OD and Change Intensive program
- SEEC’s 4-day course, Business Acumen for OD Professionals, and
- The SEEC/CODI OD Practicum
Intensive CODI’s OD and Change Intensive program provides comprehensive, basic training in both the theory and practice of OD. Many Intensive participants have been in the field for years, but have taken this opportunity to build their theory base and expand their professional capabilities. If, upon review of your Intensive application, we do not feel you are ready for the program, we will ask you to take the Essentials program as a pre-requisite.
Essentials About half of the participants in the most recent Intensive program chose to prepare with CODI’s 2-day intro to OD, OD and Change Essentials. Based on feedback from those participants, and from some of those in the Intensive program who did not do Essentials, we are now highly recommending the two-day Essentials program for most Intensive applicants. Intensive participants receive a 25% discount on Essentials.
Acumen The 4-day Business Acumen for OD Professionals course has been developed by SEEC, in consultation with CODI, to provide OD practitioners with a better grounding in business. Most OD professionals do not work at the highest executive level, in part because they don’t understand business fundamentals, and they don’t speak the CEO’s language. This 4-day course, among other things, will teach you how to think like a CEO and how to build a business case – including a business case for an OD intervention.
Practicum The OD Practicum provides an opportunity to practice the theory and methodology taught in the first two MCOD components, with a real client at a Practicum site. You will be mentored throughout by an experienced OD professional.
To begin the MCOD, either apply to its first component, CODI’s Intensive program (the recommended route), or register
for the Business Acumen for OD Professionals course. Intensive Application
Register for the next Acumen session. June 26-29, 2012. Firm date TBA.
If you complete Acumen before Intensive your next step will be to apply to the Intensive program. With both Acumen and Intensive completed, you may register in the Practicum.
Acumen as a standalone course. The 4-day Acumen course is also available as a standalone course. If, upon completing Acumen you decide to undertake the MCOD, your next step is to apply to Intensive. With both Intensive and Acumen completed, you may register for the OD Practicum.
